Hi Heather, I take that you are based in Cambodia? I am an advocate for ethical fashion and have been reading and writing on this out of interest. I came across an article by Anne Elizabeth Moore regarding AFESIP Cambodia and the ‘downfall’ of its founder Somaly Mam. The argument here is that the situation with sex trafficking in Cambodia which some people have argued is not as big as some activists made it out to be (I wouldn’t know since I’ve never been there and I don’t wish to assume) as compared to the exploitation of garment workers. Also, that to resolve the issue of sex trafficking and sex work in general, you need to pay garment workers better because former sex workers may be tempted into going back since the latter pays more.
